Debunking Quack Science – Pranav Radhakrishnan
Pranav Radhakrishnan is a science communicator and YouTuber known for his channel Science Is Dope, which debunks pseudoscience and explains complex ideas in simple terms. I had the opportunity to sit down with Pranav and discuss his background, his process for creating content that debunks myths, and what it’s like to be in the middle of debates on scientific topics.
Pranav was fascinated by science from a young age—he remembers reading an encyclopedia at the age of six! He started Science Is Dope when he noticed a lack of Indian voices simplifying scientific and mathematical misconceptions for the general public.
In this episode, we talk about:
- • Evidence vs. Intuition – Understanding where each fits in how we process the world.
- • Correlation vs. Causation – Why it’s a common trap in reasoning.
- • Debunking buzzwords – Tackling misuse of terms like “quantum,” “vibrations,” and “dimension.”
- • Survivorship bias – Using real-life examples to explain why logical fallacies matter.
- • Adapting communication – How to present facts without losing empathy or relatability.
“Think rationally.” That’s Pranav’s simple and powerful advice for anyone navigating the world of misinformation and buzzwords.
